Fort Sumter
Fort Sumter was the official start of the Civil War. It was located in the Charleston Harbor. The Northern army held the battle. The Northern army needed resupplied. As the battle went on the Confederate army requested evacuation of Fort Sumter. The Union surrendered and Confederate soldiers captured the harbor. South Carolina was the first state to join the Confederate States of America.
